How Much Does Restaurant Photography Cost in New Jersey? (2026 Guide)

If you own a restaurant or café in New Jersey, you have probably asked this question at least once: how much should professional food photography actually cost? Prices online range from a couple of hundred dollars to several thousand, and it is not always clear what you get for the money.

This guide breaks down what drives the price of restaurant photography, what a fair package should include, and what we charge at HS Media for shoots across Northern New Jersey and New York City.

What affects the cost of restaurant photography?

Two shoots that both say “food photography” can be very different jobs. These are the factors that move the price the most:

  • Time on location. A 2-hour shoot covers a focused set of dishes. A 5-hour shoot can cover your full menu, drinks, interior and team.
  • Number of edited photos. Every final image is color-corrected and retouched. More finished photos means more editing time.
  • Video and Reels. Short vertical videos for Instagram and TikTok are now as important as photos. Filming and editing Reels adds to the cost, but it is usually cheaper to capture them in the same session than to book a separate video shoot.
  • What you are shooting. Dishes only, or dishes plus your dining room, bar, kitchen and staff? Interiors and portraits need different lighting and setup.
  • Styling and planning. A shot list prepared in advance saves time on the day and makes sure you get the images you actually need for your menu, website and delivery apps.
  • Travel. Most photographers include a local radius and charge extra beyond it, or for shoots in Manhattan and the other boroughs.

Hourly rates vs. packages

Some photographers charge by the hour and bill editing separately. That can look cheaper at first, but it makes the final cost hard to predict. A package with a fixed price, a fixed number of edited photos and a clear delivery date is easier to budget for and easier to compare.

When you compare quotes, ask each photographer the same questions:

  • How many edited photos are included, not just how many are taken?
  • Are Reels or short videos included?
  • Will I get sizes ready for Google, DoorDash, Uber Eats and Instagram?
  • How many revisions are included, and how long is delivery?
  • Is travel included for my location?

Which package is right for your restaurant?

  • You just updated your menu or joined a delivery app: start with the Menu Refresh. Ten strong dish photos will do more for your orders than old phone pictures.
  • You are launching a new website or rebranding: the Signature Brand Shoot covers dishes, your space and your team in one visit.
  • You want to post consistently on Instagram and TikTok: the Premium Content Shoot gives you 12 Reels and 20 photos, enough for regular posting without booking a new shoot every month.

Is professional food photography worth it?

For most restaurants, the first place a new customer sees your food is not your dining room. It is Google Maps, a delivery app, or an Instagram post. Clear, appetizing photos help people choose you over the place next door, and the same images keep working for you on your menu, website, ads and social media for months.
